Kinda not. Article 15, Sections 3740-3744 of the Arcata municipal code
govern skateboarding.

Skateboarding on sidewalks is encouraged unless the sidewalk is private
and a prohibition is posted, the sidewalk is public and skateboarding
would create a pedestrian hazard, or the sidewalk is prohibited to
skateboarders by resolution.

Thank you for your insight.
Now, my next q. is why have I been threatened by the police in Arcata
for riding my Trikke on the sidewalk? the roads are in terrible
condition and the man says I'm riding a bike. Are they that blind they
don't see the third wheel.
and I am not a danger to pedestrians. The Trikke even has two brakes.
Are they pigs?

No insight is required. Just reading the Arcata Municipal Code. Which
is online.

A bicycle is defined as any human-powered vehicle of a particular size.
Your Trikke is classified as a bicycle.

Bicycles are not allowed on sidewalks in Arcata in the business
district. Elsewhere, that seems to be legal.

Are they pigs?
A rhetorical question, I assume.

Some people stop and ask questions about the Trikke , I do tell them to
check out Trikke vids on YouTube.
and some times I mention my various encounters with the Arcata's finest.
People are very disappointed that the police would waste their time on
such a "crime". I'm asked so often "Don't they have more important
things to do than to hassle some old guy. " I'm 70. And an officer once
said. "Don't make us draft NEW laws" A Trikke in not a bicycle. 3 wheels.
duh.
Thanks, for you input. tho.

There's no fool like an old fool. The law defines your Trikke as a
bicycle even though it has three wheels. Try arguing etymology with the
judge.

Judges and police. just two sides of the same coin.
Guess the results.
